With over ten years experience, Cathy Vandergeest, R.G.D. FSC Xpert is a professionally trained, registered graphic designer who helps organizations create effective publications and promotional material with ease and expertise.
Cathy possesses an eye for detail and the experience and focus to get the job done. During her professional career, Cathy has gained valuable experience in the design of publications and promotional material through working as an in-house graphic designer as well as for herself. She has proven the ability to manage deadlines while maintaining brand standards and providing exceptional creativity.
Growing up, Cathy's favourite things were animals, writing and art. Her first career was in the field of animal care, working as a nurse and office manager in a veterinary hospital. During this time, she attended Capilano University to study business. The organizational, communication and problem solving skills she gained during these years would become valuable assets to providing design services to her clients down the road. In search of her creative outlet, she returned to school to study graphic design in 1999.
Cathy graduated with Honours from Seneca College at York University in 2002. In 2007, she met the qualification criteria and received the designation of Registered Graphic Designer (R.G.D.). In addition, she is one of only 109 graphic designers in Canada to hold a Forest Stewardship Council Xpert Pioneer designation, a program for individuals committed to responsible forest management. In 2011 Cathy co-founded gawck. Gawck designs, prints and provide supplies for posters, banners, signs and more. She continues to provide design services for clients, both existing and new.
